Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, is visiting Singapore from 19-21 August 2026 — and he's not going alone. Around 70 senior Indian business leaders are travelling with him, spanning tech, manufacturing, finance, healthcare, agri-food, and logistics.
📌 Why this matters for exporters
- 🤝 70-member business delegation: B2B, G2B and institutional meetings covering tech/AI, manufacturing, infrastructure, FinTech, healthcare, food & agriculture, logistics and maritime trade.
- 🌾 Agri-export push: Goyal will jointly visit an APEDA–FairPrice initiative to promote Indian agri-food exports in Singapore's retail market.
- 💰 Singapore is India's largest FDI source: USD 19.8 billion in FY 2025-26 alone; USD 194.68 billion cumulative (April 2000–March 2026) — 24.72% of India's total FDI inflows.
- 📈 Trade has grown 5x+ since CECA: Bilateral trade rose from USD 6.7 billion (FY 2004-05) to USD 36.1 billion (FY 2025-26).
✅ Key Highlight: Singapore is India's largest source of FDI and its biggest trading partner within ASEAN, making the market important for Indian businesses and exporters.
What's on the Agenda
The main event of the visit is the 4th India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) on 20 August 2026. The meeting is the main ministerial platform for advancing the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP). It runs alongside the 4th India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR), followed by an MoU signing ceremony and a lunch hosted by Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister.
Goyal isn't going alone from the Indian side either. He'll be joined at the Roundtable by:
- Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs
- Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Union Minister for External Affairs
- Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT
Goyal will also meet Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Istana.
Government-to-Business (G2B) Engagements
On the sidelines, Goyal will hold G2B meetings with senior representatives from:
- Global Finance & Technology Network
- YPO Global
- Milken Institute
- Keppel Infrastructure
- Temasek Holdings
- IHH Healthcare
- Singapore Business Federation (SBF) Chairman-led delegation
- Turner & Townsend
- STT GDC
These will be followed by a Family Office Roundtable — relevant for exporters and businesses eyeing Singapore-based investment channels.
Agri-Export Focus: APEDA–FairPrice Initiative
Goyal will jointly visit an APEDA–FairPrice initiative at City Square Mall with Singapore's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade & Industry, Ms Gan Siow Huang.
The initiative is aimed squarely at promoting Indian agri-food exports and strengthening their presence in Singapore's retail market — a direct signal for India's food & agri exporters eyeing the Singapore market.
